The Cat in the Hat is Coming Back!
Join us for the 2nd annual Ozarks Public Television/Mercy Children’s Hospital Read Across America Seuss Science Day!

- Dr. Seuss story times
- Books suited for younger kids will be read in the BodyWorks Theater (3rd floor of the east Building)
- The Tooth Book at 10 am and 1 pm
- One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish at 11 am and 2 pm
- Hop on Pop at 12 pm and 3 pm
- Books suited for older kids will be read in the Immersion Cinema (1st floor west building)
- Horton Hatches the Egg at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm
- The Butter Battle Book at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm
- McElligot’s Pool at 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm
- Science activities taking place throughout the day
- Discovery Center exhibits open all day
- Mercy Children’s Hospital will have several activities in the Exploratory Lab (2nd floor east building)
- Seuss science demonstrations that correspond with selected books will include:
- One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish fish demonstration
- Located near goldfish exhibit, 3rd floor west building
- Explore the different characteristics of fish
- The Tooth Book demonstration
- Located near Big Mouth exhibit, 3rd floor east building
- Learn about different types of teeth and how they work
- Hop on Pop bouncing demonstration
- Located in the Phenomenon Gallery, 2nd floor east building
- Learn about the science of bouncing, if certain materials bounce better than others and why things bounce
- Horton Hatches the Egg demonstration
- Located near the egg exhibit, 3rd floor west building
- Explore different types of eggs and learn what animals hatch from eggs
- The Butter Battle Book catapult demonstration
- Located in Energy Exchange gallery, 1st floor west building
- Replicate a tool from the book-a catapult
- McElligot’s Pool water demonstration, presented by Watershed Committee of the Ozarks.
- Located near the watershed exhibit, 1st floor east building
- Learn about water quality and protecting our water supply
- Meet and greet with the Cat in the Hat
- The Cat will be making appearances throughout the day, beginning at 10:15 am
- Located in the mezzanine, 2nd floor east building
- Ozarks Public Television will take and print pictures for you to take home
- Pictures can be picked up in the gift shop (1st floor east building)
- “The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That” episode screenings
