After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Roots & Relics. While there was strong interest in the concept, registrations did not reach the level needed to create the vibrant and engaging experience we envisioned for attendees and participants.

Join Ozarks Public Television for Roots & Relics, an unforgettable afternoon of discovery, history, and surprises. Presented by Easter Law Firm, this unique community event invites you to uncover the stories, significance, and potential value hidden within the objects you treasure most.

Do you have a family heirloom that's been passed down through generations? A vintage find you couldn't leave behind? A collectible, piece of artwork, book, or piece of jewelry you've always wondered about? Bring your item and receive an informal appraisal from experienced experts who can help reveal its history, craftsmanship, and worth.

You never know what story an object may tell. A forgotten keepsake could hold an unexpected connection to the past. A family treasure may reveal a fascinating journey through time. A long-overlooked collectible might be more remarkable than you ever imagined.

Roots & Relics may be photographed and filmed for a future television episode and related promotional materials. By attending, you consent to the use of your image, voice, and likeness by Ozarks Public Television in program content, marketing materials, social media, and other communications related to the event.

• When purchasing an Appraisal Admission ticket, guest will be asked to submit one or more photos of the item they plan to bring, along with a brief description.
• Appraisal Admission tickets include one appraisal item per guest.
• Appraisals will be limited to 5 minutes.
• Appraisal items must be easily carried into the venue by the participant and must fit comfortably on a standard cocktail table.
• Appraisals are limited to five minutes per item.
• Appraisals are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only and should not be considered formal valuations, insurance appraisals, or offers to purchase. Ozarks Public Television and its appraisers make no guarantees regarding the accuracy of opinions expressed during the event.
• Items not accepted for appraisal include firearms, weapons, live animals, vehicles, and oversized items that cannot be safely carried by the attendee or displayed on a standard cocktail table.
• Photography, audio recording, and video recording will occur throughout the event. By attending Roots & Relics, participants grant Ozarks Public Television permission to use their image, likeness, voice, and comments in television programming, promotional materials, websites, social media, and other marketing or educational content without compensation.

To help guests spend more time enjoying the event and less time waiting in line, appraisal appointments will be assigned on-site throughout the day.

1. Visit the Appraisal Welcome Table upon arrival to check in and register your item.
2. You'll receive an appraisal ticket indicating your appraisal category and approximate appointment window.
3. Enjoy the event, workshops, demonstrations, and exhibits while you wait for your scheduled appraisal time.
4. When your appointment window arrives, proceed to the appraisal room and locate the category listed on your ticket.
5. Volunteers will assist you and direct you to the next available appraiser.

Important Notes

• Roots & Relics is a drop-in event. Appraisal appointment windows will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis at check-in.
• We recommend arriving early for the greatest selection of appointment times.
• While we will make every effort to accommodate guests who arrive slightly early or late, missed appraisal appointments cannot be guaranteed.
• No advance appraisal appointments are available.

Not sure which category fits your item? Don't worry. Category assignments will be finalized during the item review process.

In addition to appraisals, guests with either an Appraisal Admission or General Admission ticket are invited to attend a series of educational workshops throughout the day. 

All workshops are approximately 30 minutes long and will run on a rotating schedule, allowing guests to attend multiple sessions during the event. Workshop seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with admission beginning at the listed start time for each session.

From Necessity to Novelty: Ozarks Handicrafts and Roadside Souvenirs

Presented by Haley Frizzle-Green

With the construction of Route 66, automobile tourism increased across the United States. Novelty shops along the route offered regional, one-of-a-kind gifts for newcomers. In the Ozarks, a region known for its traditional handicraft production, residents began making crafts not just for the practical needs of everyday life, but for the influx of tourists exploring their hills and hollers. This program presented by Haley Frizzle-Green, senior archivist at the SHSMO Springfield Research Center, examines how Ozarkers met this new demand for their products while still expressing their regional identity and cultural heritage.

Bookbinding: Connecting to our Lineage of Human Communication

Presented by Cina Canada

In this workshop, we will discuss the history of paper and the first known methods of moving away from the scroll and into binding books with a flat text block.

 Participants will then learn about basic book structure and have an opportunity to try a three-hole stitch to bind their own blank pamphlet.

Allison Taylor

Appraiser, Allie's Antique Appraisals

  As the founder of Allie's Antique Appraisals, she is a certified AIA appraiser with over 35 years of hands-on experience under her belt. Her obsession with old treasures began at nineteen, hunting through the flea markets, tag sales, and antique shops of East Texas. Now living in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, she happily serves local and global clients with deep knowledge, integrity, and enthusiasm for all things vintage. Her love for history spills over into her personal life, where she proudly juggles being a fine art collector and a self-proclaimed book hoarder.  

Amelia Justice

Appraiser, Justice Jewelers

Amelia Justice, GIA GD GCS GP

Amelia is the second-generation owner of Justice Jewelers, a family-owned fine jewelry business in Springfield, Missouri, established more than 40 years ago. With a lifelong connection to the jewelry industry, and a B.A. in Art History Amelia has a deep appreciation for the history, craftsmanship, and stories behind fine jewelry and treasured objects.

She enjoys helping people understand the significance and value of their pieces, whether family heirlooms, vintage treasures, or contemporary jewelry. Amelia believes jewelry is often much more than something beautiful—it can be a tangible connection to family, memories, and the past.

Mike Easterly

Appraiser, Easterly Auction Company

Easterly has been a prominent name in the Missouri auction community for over 20 years. Mike and Tracy Easterly specialize in real estate, farms, commercial property, business sales, antiques and collectibles. 

In 2020, Mike was inducted into the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame and has served as the Association’s President.

Haley Frizzle-Green

Presenter

Haley Frizzle-Green is a senior archivist for the State Historical Society of Missouri—Springfield Research Center. She holds a master’s degree in library and information science, with an emphasis in archival studies from the University of Missouri. Helping preserve and promote Missouri’s history, Haley has worked for SHSMO since 2021. Prior to her career in archives, she worked as a reference librarian at Springfield-Greene County Public Library. Haley is also the producer and host of a monthly radio program titled “Stories from the Archives,” which airs on KSMU public radio.

Corey & Aimee Stinnett

Appraisers, Stinnett Auction Service

Stinnett Auction Service is a family-owned business run by Roy, Corey, and Aimee Stinnett. Roy's years of experience as an auctioneer started it all, and Corey and Aimee later joined him, bringing their own backgrounds and shared interest in antiques and collectibles. Corey came to the auction business after working in trucking logistics, while Aimee left a career in special education. Today, they work together handling everything from individual
consignments and specialty collections to full estate auctions. They enjoy meeting people, learning the stories behind the items they sell, and helping families through the auction process. Their goal is simple: to treat people fairly, present items well, and make the auction experience straightforward, friendly, and professional from start to finish. 

Morgan du Bourgh

Appraiser, Buffalo Creek Auctions

Morgan De Burgh is a professional auctioneer with Buffalo Creek Auctions LLC and a collectibles appraiser with an eye for the things other people might walk right past. Vintage toys, Hollywood memorabilia, old advertising, petroliana, folk art, sports memorabilia, coins, currency—Morgan has spent years learning what makes these objects interesting, collectible, and sometimes unexpectedly valuable. She knows the difference between something that is merely old and something that has a real story, a real market, or both. Morgan brings sharp research, seasoned judgment, and genuine curiosity to every appraisal, along with a love for the history hiding inside everyday objects. Around here, we just say: Mo Knows Collectibles.

Amy Silva

Appraiser

Amy Silva is a vintage book collector and reseller with a love for old books and the stories they carry. To her, books are little time capsules—pieces of another era that can also serve as keys to entirely different worlds and adventures. Over the years, she has developed an eye for the small details that can turn an ordinary-looking book into something special. She especially enjoys the detective work behind identifying editions, uncovering a book’s history, and occasionally discovering that an unassuming book is worth far more than expected. Outside of books, Amy is a graphic designer, hand-lettering artist, and lifelong creative who has always been drawn to things with a story to tell.

Cina Canada

Presenter

Cina Canada has spent almost three decades of her professional career in media production and coordination. She has traveled the world covering human-interest stories, disaster and humanitarian crisis response and working as the media coordinator for an international education company. During her years of international work, she developed extensive experience in communications, logistics, project management and leadership. Her entrepreneurial drive and broad range of experiences and education culminated in her current venture, the Wild Arts Learning Center in Springfield, MO.
